New Stop Signs Enhance Safety at Culbreth & Rugby Roads

crosswalk

A major change in the traffic pattern at the intersection of Rugby and Culbreth Roads near Beta Bridge occurred over Spring Break with the installation of two new stop signs and bars.  The three-way stop is designed to slow and better organize vehicles in order to provide improved safety for pedestrians and cyclists.  This busy intersection serves as the gateway to the Arts, Culbreth Garage, and Band Building and is proximate to neighborhoods with dense student housing, including sorority and fraternity houses.  This project represents a collaborative effort between UVA and the City of Charlottesville to enhance safety in areas where our communities connect.
