The Commonwealth of Virginia has combined its three sales tax holidays into one three-day tax-free weekend from August 5 through August 7.  During this weekend, customers save state sales and use tax on qualifying items, including hurricane and emergency preparedness supplies. Emergency supplies featured include batteries, flashlights, radios, tarps, duct tape, bungee cords, carbon monoxide detectors, smoke detectors, bottled water, cell phone chargers, First Aid kits, and more.  Tax-exempt days offer the perfect opportunity to ensure that your disaster supply kit is up to date or buy other items that may help you during a disaster.
